Support Worker — Position Description

 

Join Our Team as a Disability Support Worker – Albury/Wodonga

SupportedPlus, an NDIS-registered disability service, is looking for dedicated Disability Support Workers to provide personal, community, and in-home care across Albury/Wodonga and surrounding areas.

 

How We Work

At SupportedPlus, our Disability Support Workers play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and empowerment of participants. We provide person-centred support that respects individual choices, promotes dignity, and encourages independence.

Our participants vary in age and may have a variety of support needs, including:

✔ Physical mobility challenges

✔ Neurological conditions

✔ Cognitive, intellectual, or psycho-social disabilities

✔ Autism spectrum disorders, Asperger syndrome, and Down syndrome

✔ Acquired brain injuries and mental health conditions

✔ High and complex support needs requiring close, attentive care

 

Supports are provided flexibly across different hours and days, tailored to each participant’s needs.

Services may include:

✅ Daily living & personal care (including intimate care, hygiene, and continence support)

✅ Domestic assistance & tenancy support

✅ Mentoring & life skills development

✅ Social, community & civic participation

✅ Health & well-being programs

✅ Active engagement activities — walks, outings, recreation, and community access

✅ Transport & supported holidays

✅ Recreational & group-based activities

✅ Close supervision and behaviour support for participants with high and complex needs

 


About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will:

✅ Support individuals in achieving their life goals and independence

✅ Accompany participants on community outings, exercise, and recreational activities

✅ Provide close supervision and calm, consistent support for participants with complex or behavioural needs

✅ Encourage and empower participants while respecting their privacy, dignity, and choices

✅ Provide personal care, including assistance with hygiene, grooming and mobility

✅ Work flexibly across various hours, days, and occasional weekends

 

 

About You — Core Competencies

We are looking for dedicated individuals who:

✔ Have experience supporting people with disabilities, including those with high or complex needs

✔ Are confident and competent in providing personal and intimate care

✔ Build trusted relationships with participants and their families in a caring and respectful manner

✔ Are passionate about empowering individuals to live independently within their community

✔ Remain calm, patient, and composed in challenging situations

✔ Possess strong organisational skills and the ability to work with self-drive and initiative

✔ Are self-aware and emotionally intelligent

✔ Respect ethical beliefs and diversity, valuing individual cultures and personal values

✔ Are open to continuous learning and regular training

 

This is a casual position.

 


Essential Requirements

✔ Cert IV in Disability, Community Services, Mental Health, or Cert III in Individual Support (Personal Care) — or equivalent experience

✔ Strong communication and confidentiality skills

✔ NDIS Worker Screening Check (or in progress)

✔ Valid Driver’s Licence & reliable vehicle

✔ COVID Vaccination Certificate

✔ Current First Aid & CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

 

Desirable

✔ Experience in personal care, nursing, aged care, or mental health support

✔ Experience supporting participants with autism, intellectual disability, or complex behaviours

✔ Background in mentoring or life skills development

Physical Requirements

This position requires a good level of physical fitness. Physical tasks may include reaching, bending, pushing, kneeling, lifting, and accompanying participants on active community outings.
