SupportedPlus is an NDIS registered disability service based in Corowa, Rutherglen, Howlong and surrounding districts.

Established in 2018, our mission is to offer exceptional support services for people with a disability and their carers.

How we work

Our Support Workers perform tasks in a manner that considers the health and safety of self and others; and ensures that participants are given  opportunities to make and own their decisions. While providing supports, workers offer motivation, encouragement and ensure that our participants are accorded privacy, dignity and respect at all times.

Our Support Workers provide exceptional services within the participants’ home and community. Participants may have a range of needs relative to their age and disability that include: physical mobility, neurological conditions, cognitive, intellectual or psycho-social functioning, autism spectrum disorders, Asperger syndrome, Downs syndrome, acquired brain injury and mental health. Participants’ ages range from 17 yrs and upwards. 

All supports are provided flexibly across a span of days and/or hours. The support services are unique for each participant and cover one or more of the following areas: daily living, domestic assistance, relationships, capacity building, tenancy obligations, mentoring, social, community and civic participation, health and well-being, life skills, transport, supported holidays,  arts,  recreational, group based activities, personal care and meal preparation.

Successful applicant will be responsible for assisting individuals work towards their life goals, assisting with a variety of activities, routines and in the provision of personal hygiene if required.

This is a casual position and reports to the Director at SupportedPlus.

About you – Core competencies
• Experience in providing personal care and caring for people with a disability. 
• Ability to build relationships which are based on trust in a caring and respectful manner, with participants and their families.
• Passionate about people and enthusiastic in assisting people to live independently within their community.
• Good organisational skills with an ability to perform tasks as required.
• Genuine commitment to the delivery of whole-person-centred care while incorporating the principles of hope, compassion and empathy towards participants.
• Capacity to recognise own feelings and those of others through self-reflection and awareness.
• Respect of ethical beliefs and diversity of others by being culturally aware of individual values.
• Capacity to embrace social inclusiveness as a strength and positively use diversity to empower individuals.
• Ability to remain calm under challenging circumstances.
• Ability to undergo regular training to expand knowledge and understanding in creating and working in a safe environment.
• A commitment to make the interests of people their first judgement so as to provide the best possible outcome in service delivery.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential
• A minimum of Cert IV in Disability or Cert III in Personal Care, Home and Community.

• A proven ability to communicate effectively.
• A demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
• Ability to accept direction and work in a buddy system.

Mandatory
• NDIS Worker Screening Check or Application in progress.
• COVID Vaccination Certificate
• A valid and current Driver’s Licence and reliable roadworthy motor vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
• Current Level 1 First Aid and CPR Certificate or a willingness to obtain one.

Desirable
• Experience in providing personal care.

• Experience in engaging and improving people’s mental health.

• Candidates with life skill experiences that are prepared to mentor.
• Candidates with qualifications and experience working within Aged Care will be considered.

Physical Requirements
This position requires a level of physical fitness. Physical tasks may include reaching, bending, pushing, kneeling and lifting.
